Greek Shipowner Costas Delaportas Scores Again with Profitable Bulker Sale

Greek Shipowner Costas Delaportas, CEO of DryDel Shipping, has once again demonstrated his sharp eye for timing and value in the secondhand bulker market, executing another profitable asset play despite continued market volatility.

DryDel has sold the 64,500-dwt M/V Utopia (built 2020 In Japan) to undisclosed Asian buyers for $34 million.

The vessel was originally acquired in mid-2023 from Danish owner Norden—when it sailed as M/V Nord Amazon—for $31.5 million.

In addition to securing a swift resale gain, DryDel earned approximately $3 million in trading profits during the period it was under the company’s control - with the total profit from the deal exceeding $5.5 million.

With a growing track record of well-timed entries and exits, C. Delaportas continues to reinforce his reputation as one of the most quick and commercially sharp players in the dry bulk sector.
